Linear Motion Transformer II - LMT.2
|
The ROWEN Swiss-made full-range midrange/high-frequency system sets a completely new standard for realistic music reproduction—in terms of dynamics, fine detail, freedom from coloration, and three-dimensionality. |
After 12 years of successful use of our exclusive mids/highs driver, the improved version with a newly designed wave guide was introduced into ROWEN loudspeakers in 2025 as the LMT.2. The "Linear Motion Transformer" transmits the entire midrange and high-frequency range with nearly unlimited dynamics via a single membrane and, in terms of sound, functions as a true point source.
Unlike well-known broadband systems such as “flexible wave converters” and “air motion transformers,” the ROWEN LMT.2 does not work with material deformation. A completely linearly moving cardboard membrane without mechanical suspension is driven by four extremely powerful neodymium magnets with a pulling force of 140 kg(!) and an embedded (not fixed) double voice coil. The shape of the membrane is chosen so that the cardboard is only stressed in the longitudinal direction, thus providing ideal stability. Since there is no mechanical transition to moving parts and the membrane moves uncompromisingly free-floating, the LMT.2 plays with virtually no coloration and with unprecedented sound neutrality.
A cornerstone of motivation for Anton Aebischer's development team is to achieve the seemingly impossible. This inevitably leads to new solutions, just as ROWEN amplifiers have long proven their quality advantage thanks to unique technology. ROWEN's goal is to fulfill even the most subtle high-end desires in their entirety.
